Brochures EVERYWHERE!

{Please check registration progress at right and check the REG BY CITY.}
WEEKLY BUSINESS
Comment Follow Up: Thank you for sharing the good you saw in yourself this week...I know it lifted my heart and I hope it helped lift yours.  You're going to need strong cheerful hearts as we head into the final stretch of pre-registration...because:

There are ONLY 28 DAYS left of pre-registration!!!  We've reached about 18% of our registration goal, but there's still more to do!!!  and now it's time to get those brochures out and start registering the groups we've been helping to cultivate.  You're awesome and you do awesome things! Keep doing them!
----------------------------------------------
WEEKLY FOCUS
BROCHURES EVERYWHERE!
Have you had fun sharing your brochures? Do you still have some left? We mailed several thousand brochures to all of our customers in your area this week, and so it's time to follow-up and make sure everyone knows they can come to YOU for questions or to get in a group.  Brochures might seem obsolete in this wild world of SOCIAL MEDIA...but don't let progress fool you into thinking we don't need to hand out brochures!  The life span of a brochure is a lasting reminder of TOFW.   Think about this:  You give it to a friend (1 look) and she puts in her bag.  It comes out of the  bag (2 looks!).  It goes on the counter (3,4,5 looks unless she's much more organized than me).  Facebook posts get buried so quickly, but your brochure lasts forever (or at least until you buy your tickets and then recycle it :))

Maybe this is also a good time for a refresher on where and when and how you CAN  (and can't) distribute your brochures so that you're meeting the guidelines.  There's been a little confusion about this, so please read this part carefully.

YOU CAN SHARE YOUR BROCHURES AT CHURCH
Bring them to church with you and as you see friends, hand them out!  Be sure to let them know what TOFW is, where and when it is and that you are proudly on the TOFW team!

The guidelines do say that we can't use church resources to mass distribute our information.  We want to avoid making it look like TOFW is a church sponsored event.  Specifically that means YOU CAN'T do the following:
  1. Leave them on a table for people to pick up with no explanation of what TOFW is.
  2. Stand at a door and give one to everyone that enters a room.
  3. Post one on the bulletin boards in the church halls.
  4. Put them on cars in church parking lots.
----------------------------------------------
SHARE CHALLENGE
BROCHURES:  Please make an effort to follow-up with your friends & family to see if they received a brochure. Then ask them if they have a group to join yet...if not...you now know who to help. Let's make sure all of our brochures are distributed in the next week or so.

Here are a few easy, fun ideas for distributing your brochures:
  1. Give a friend some brochures and have her help you by giving them to her friends
  2. If you know a local business with lots of LDS customers, ask the owner if you can post a brochure.  Just make sure it is in a place where customers will recognize that it is primarily Mormon messages because it is presented by Deseret Book.
  3. Write a message on the back of the brochure telling your friend why they would enjoy TOFW.  Give your name and phone number and deadline of when you are getting your group together so they can join you.
  4. Make sure to point out the tear out cards, so the person receiving the brochure can form a GROUP.
  5. GET CREATIVE and share your ideas on the team FACEBOOK page!
TOFW EMAIL: Earlier this month we sent an email to all of our Deseret Book customers in the area reminding them that Time Out for Women  pre-registration is in full swing!  Please share the email with everyone just in case they didn't get it from us.

COMMENT CORNER: How many brochures do you have left?  Share a great idea with the team about how you are distributing them.

WEEKLY FOCUS
Giving Back, TOFW- Style

#1 GOOD MEAL PROJECT~ Our 2012 Service Project is called THE GOOD MEAL PROJECT.  We will be creating bagged meals at the event that will be donated to the Food Bank in each city that is part of the 2012 Tour.  The process will be much like our Possibility Packs and Hope Kits from prior years.

~Attendees will be asked to bring the following items as donations when they come to the event (letter corresponding to the first letter in their last name):

A - F Chili (TWO - 15 oz. cans)
G – K Biscuit Mix ( TWO 8 oz. "just add water" mixes)
L - R Green beans (TWO - 14.5 oz. cans)
S - Z Teddy Grahams (ONE 10 oz. box)

~Team members will collect and sort donations Friday evening and Saturday morning.

~During lunch on Saturday we will have 2 assembly shifts where attendees can assemble meals into bags that will be donated to the food bank.

I've attached a PDF information sheet about the project to your email today so you can share it with everyone you know coming!

#2 SCHOLARSHIP~Please take some time to think of a few ways you can find women and girls to participate in the scholarship program (click here if you need a reminder about how the program works). Our Scholarship program is ONLY RUN THROUGH THE TEAM and so you are the only ones out there to tell the women about it. For a reminder of what the scholarship program is click here. Please take note at the right the scholarship coordinator's contact information and scholarship submission deadline.

IDEAS FOR SHARING the Scholarship:

1. Send an email to all your friends and family and ask them if they know of anyone that wants to go, but cannot afford it. You might say something like this: “Have you talked to someone who would love to go to TOFW, but can’t afford the full-price? As a team member, I have the opportunity to offer a few women scholarship registrations. Please send anyone you know that is in this situation to me and I will help to get them registered. We don’t want ANYONE to miss this!”

2. Ward leaders: Although we do not advertise this event to the members of your ward through church channels, you might want to contact your ward Relief Society President and let her know that you are a team member and have access to the “scholarship program.” Tell her that if she becomes aware of a woman who is in this situation, to have them contact you and you will take care of them. The woman needs to come to you personally, rather than having the leader submit their name to you, just so we can make sure she is fully aware of how the program works and is committed to it. We also want to make sure that she never confuses this with being something the Church donated for her. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that we do not want any church leader to be in a position where they feel like they are informing a woman about TOFW. And please do not contact leaders outside your natural friendship circles.
--------------------------------------------------------------
SHARE CHALLENGE
Of course, the share challenge this week is all about service!

Share the Service Project video and Donation list with women you know are coming to TOFW and those you think would like to be a part of this exciting project!

****Also, find one scholarship recipient this week! ***

WEEKLY FOCUS
Chris Williams, a new TOFW presenter for 2012, has a lot of important things to share with us about Seeking the Good.  After his wife and three of his children were killed by a drunk driver, Chris found the strength to forgive and let go.  His faith in God’s ability to make tragedy change us for good has lead him to move forward on a path that has added joy to his life equal to his pain.  He’s now remarried and his rapidly growing family has just welcomed darling baby girl number two! Chris may be one of few male presenters at Time Out, but we promise, he’ll  fit in perfectly with the TOFW crowd in Springfield!
